Personal Information[]

Curtis Wade arrives in Virginia City with Charles Ludlow, they are business partners in bringing the Pony Express there.

Although equal partners, Wade often found himself playing second fiddle to Ludlow reputation and his animosity towards him grows. This animosity is exacerbated by a reporter who arrives in town and plays Wade against Ludlow for a better story.

Wades reputation was that of an Indian killer, he was well known to people that anyone who had a problem he would sort it out which is another reason he is in partnership with Ludlow.

As the Pony Express is threatened with repeated Indian attacks and loss of riders, horses and stations, Ludlow calls to cease operations, Wade tells Ludlow the board of directors will decide.

Armed with information provided by Tully, Wade manages to win the votes to keep the Pony Express going and a vote of no confidence against Ludlow leaves him without a company.

Hoss asks Wade if he can look after and defend Indian Wells Way Station because he wants to keep his brother safe and feels that keeping the Indians at bay from the way station will give Little Joe a better chance of making it back. Wade sends a cannon to help defend the station.

Hoss and Jebez catch Winnamucca's son at the way station when they use the canon. Tully tells Wade he needs a story to take back and put him in the limelight, Wade takes Tully to the way station to hang Winnamucca's son. But Little Joe has been captured by the Indians and they propose an exchange but Wade won't have it and attempts to hang Bear Dance. Ben hits Wade to the ground and save Bear Dance and the swap is made, Wade is left holding his jaw and Tully leaves without a story.
