Summary[]

The Cartwright boys help a lovesick cowhand Hank Myers romance a local school teacher, Abigail Jones.

Plot[]

Hoss and Joe try to help ranch hand Hank Myers woo the the schoolteacher,Abigail Jones.
They are tired of his destructive outbursts in the bunkhouse, caused by his frustration. Hank asked the schoolteacher to marry him, but she said no. Hoss and Joe are surprised he wants to marry Abigail, but decide that Hank needs to woo her romantically to get her to fall in love.

Hoss and Joe’s first plan to impress the romantic Abigail is for Hank to follow Sir Walter Raleigh's example. They set it up so Hank lays his coat over a puddle for Abigail to walk across. Unfortunately Abigail slips, and lands in the big mud puddle, making a mess of her clothing. Now she wants nothing to do with Hank.

After that plan fails, Joe and Hoss convince Adam, who doesn't want to get involved, to help them. Adam tries to teach Hank to sing, but the Cartwright brothers think he sounds terrible. So, Adam sings and plays guitar as Abigail stands on her balcony. Hank is standing below and she believes he is the one singing. As she comes down to her porch to get a better look, Joe, Hoss, and Hank take off, leaving Adam alone, still singing. This makes things worse because Abigail now believes it's Adam who's wooing her, but Hank thinks Adam is trying to steal her away. Hank is very discouraged and so is Adam.

Joe and Hoss come to the saloon in time to get knocked over as Hank is thrown out for fighting. They have decided it’s time for them to mind their own business. Abigail comes into the saloon searching for Adam. She hears Hank singing and gravitates to his voice as all the other women do, too. As Abigail sees Hank singing, she suddenly realizes she is in love with him. Hank and Abigail leave the saloon arm in arm. They decide they really are in love and want to marry.

After their wedding, Adam good naturedly wants to kiss the bride. He is only too happy to be let off the hook.
